Dr. David Naylor
President

Sister Mary Jean RyanEducated at the Universities of Toronto (MD), Oxford (DPhil), and Western Ontario (FRCPC), David Naylor has been President of the University of Toronto since 2005. Professor Naylor was Dean of Medicine and Vice Provost - Relations with Health Care Institutions, University of Toronto from 1999 to 2005. He served as chair of the National Advisory Committee on SARS and Public Health in 2003. 

The committee's work catalyzed the appointment of Canada's first Chief Public Health Officer and the creation of the Public Health Agency of Canada. Professor Naylor founded Toronto’s Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences (ICES) and led it from 1991 to 1998. Naylor has co-authored over 300 scholarly publications, and received national and international awards for research and leadership in medicine.

He is an Officer of the Order of Canada, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, and a Foreign Associate Member of the US Institute of Medicine.
