Dr. Armand V. Feigenbaum
Dr. Armand V. Feigenbaum, President and CEO of General Systems Company, received the National Medal of Technology and Innovation, the nation's highest honor for technological achievement, from President George Bush in a ceremony at the White House. General Systems is an engineering firm that designs and installs systems for improved quality and management effectiveness in companies throughout the world.
Noted as a hands-on engineer and innovator, Dr. Feigenbaum is the originator of Total Quality Management, the approach to quality and profitability that has profoundly influenced management technology strategies and productivity improvement initiatives throughout the world. The several editions of his famous book, Total Quality Control, have been published in more than twenty languages.
Dr. Feigenbaum has also helped set a new direction for innovation in management technology for the twenty-first century with his latest book, The Power of Management Capital, co-authored with his brother, Dr. Donald S. Feigenbaum. This work extends and complements the concepts of Total Quality Management to provide a basic guideline for utilization of technology and innovation to achieve effective business and enterprise focus in meeting the demands of today’s global market environment.
After receiving his Bachelor's degree from Union College, Dr. Feigenbaum attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he received his Masters and Ph.D. degrees. He has also received numerous honorary degrees and awards both domestically and internationally during his distinguished career. Dr. Feigenbaum continues to be active and play a personal role, through his company, in helping corporate leaders apply his principles for achieving profitability and customer value.
